LinkedIn Marketing Tips – What Works?
On the LinkedIn platform there are 26o MILLION active users every month! Personally, I’ve seen a huge increase in the popularity and usage of this network but with more people comes more competition and misuse of marketing tactics.
LinkedIn Marketing can be a difficult task to undertake… Sometimes, it can be difficult to cut through the noise – So, what works?
If you don’t want to read the whole article I’ll save you time and say that there is no “one size fits all” and every person & business are unique with their own specific challenges HOWEVER, this is what has worked for me and my business when it comes to generating leads through LinkedIn.
Let’s get into it!
I want to kick this article off properly with some stats.
This platform does work when used correctly.
I can thank 90% of my income to LinkedIn.
To make the best use of this platform (in my experience) you need to:
Post actionable content
Without content, you’ll be as visible this guy… (Comment below if you saw him).
But not just any kind of content!
You need to create content that will stand out from the crowd and cater to the needs of your audience.
LinkedIn themselves claim that it takes at least ten pieces of content to get one conversion.
When creating content, keep in mind your strategy and think “how can I get the outcome I desire with this post?”. From there you can create action points or call to actions to provoke that very same outcome.
Examples could be “Read more here”, “Message me for more information”.
Small Business? Don’t bother with LinkedIn Marketing Ads.
I mean, this probably won’t come as a surprise to lots of you but LinkedIn Marketing Ads are expensive for what you get back (again, in my opinion). You can execute a strategy using a free LinkedIn account via the search tool and filters.
For example… Let’s say you want to target local business owners.
Go into search and type in “Owner”.
Filter “People”, then your local area “Blackburn” & then the level of connection you desire “2nd”.
When you click “apply filters” you will gain a list of your target demographic. From there I recommend requesting to connect with a note explaining why they should accept your request.
Upon acceptance, then follow up with an introductory message of your choosing to say hello!
I can send up to 2,000 connection requests every month for myself and for my clients, if you would like to more info, click here and message me.
You don’t have to use original content
The main words here are “have to”. Especially when it comes to video marketing, you don’t HAVE TO use all of your own original content and create it from start to finish yourself.
Sometimes, a video comes along which might be perfect for getting a point across or alternatively, you might want to give kudos to someone that has done something that you think your network should see.
As long as it is relevant and you tag the rightful owners of the original video.
If you are a big business, it’s probably time to pump some budget into video content as it is great for branding purposes but can be costly and time consuming however I have seen small businesses pull it off.
These are the three main strategies that in my own LinkedIn Marketing to generate leads.
I grow my audience through targeted connections and delight them with useful, regular and engaging content. This sparks up conversations for me which I can nurture and develop over time.
